Speak Freely

Matthew 10: 19
…for it shall be given you in that hour what you are to speak.

I have used this verse many times and for many years, but the Lord just recently showed me a new way to apply it. He showed me that we can use this as His promise that He will give us the words to speak in prayer when we don’t know what we should pray.

Sometimes you are faced with a situation that you don’t know how to handle, and you don’t know what or how you should pray. Maybe you’ve heard a dozen preachers teach about prayer and now you are just feeling overwhelmed. Not to worry. God has prepared a parachute for you. He has promised that He will give you the words to pray. You just go to Him and tell Him you don’t even know what to pray and ask Him to lead you and to give you the words. Prayer time really is about fellowship with Him anyway, so this is a very natural thing to do if you really think about it.

So don’t get overwhelmed by the idea of prayer. It is as simple as talking with you Father. Let Him know where you are mentally and emotionally and ask Him to give you the words to speak. He has already promised to do just that.
