Love Child
1 John 4: 8
God is love.
Two thousand years ago, Love begat a child. Mary conceived of love and a child was born. That child was the salvation of the world.
At this time of year, we celebrate the joyous birth of the babe, the Holy Child. There are Nativity Scenes in homes, churches, in parks, even town squares. Mary and child images offer decorative reminders of the celebrated birth. Thoughts often turn to the chosen mother as we recall the Christmas story. There is little thought, however, given to the father of the blessed child, and I am not referring to Mary’s betrothed, Joseph.
The book of Luke tells the story of Jesus’ conception. The Word reads, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God,” (Luke 1: 35). We understand that Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. That’s not a new thought. The Holy Spirit is the power of the Most High, our Father, Yahweh. Jesus is God’s offspring. I am only restating what I quoted from the Bible. The point I wish to make, the conclusion I want us to embrace is that God conceived a child with Mary; God is love, therefore, Love begat a child. That child is Jesus.
God sent His Spirit to conceive a child, a child truly born of love. Love conceived and birthed a sacrificial lamb. Only love can bear to watch that lamb led to the slaughter. Love begat salvation; Love insists upon salvation. That sacred, holy child changed the world. Only Love has the kind of power necessary to change the course of human destiny and save the world. Only love can endure.
Jesus was the ultimate Love Child. Love came into the earth and reshaped humanity. Love came and gave a child. Love continues and endures. Love came and through Jesus’ triumph, remained. Do you see that when God sent Jesus it was Love that was sent and love which was conceived. The very essence of God is love and that essence is who conceived a child.
Does God love you? He can do nothing else! He is LOVE. You, too, are His love child. He has sown His heart and His love into your heart. You, too, are a product of Love. Love has bought your salvation, your eternal life, so that you may have joy immeasurable and unending.
When the world finally comes to understand that our God is love; it’s who and what He is, then we shall finally enter into His peace. I pray that you have the most blessed and spiritually anointed Christmas ever. I pray that your heart will overflow with revelation and knowledge of His infinite love for you. May you feel the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Love flowing within you and blessing everything your eyes rest upon. Be blessed!
